H-1B Visas

Metro West Boston Immigration Attorney: H-1B Visas

Each year in the United States, many educated workers become eligible for a nonimmigrant visa — the H-1B visa — a type of work permit that allows noncitizens to work in the United States. At Cashman & Lovely, in Metro West Boston, we help these workers create successful applications, acting as trusted advocates to guide them through the process to achieve results.

Cashman & Lovely has been involved in H-1B processing for a number of years. We are experienced lawyers who have in-depth knowledge of the law on immigration. At our Boston area law firm, attorney Dan Cashman is well-recognized for his work with immigrants. He has helped our law firm achieve an AV rating under Martindale Hubbell's peer review system.*

About the H-1B Visa Program

The H-1B visa program is designed to alleviate labor shortages in job positions requiring at least a bachelor’s degree. Limited amounts of H-1B visas are available each year and they are filled very quickly.

The H-1B visa program is heavily regulated. Those granted H-1B visas are allowed to come to the U.S. to work only for a petitioning employer who must comply with various regulations, including paying an appropriate wage. The H-1B visa also imposes various restrictions on the employees that are designed to ensure temporary employment in specifically approved occupations. Generally, the H-1B visa may allow a person to work in the U.S. in a specific position for a maximum of six years. In some cases, the period of time in H-1B status may exceed six years.

Considering an H-1B Visa? Contact Cashman & Lovely.

When you are considering participation in the H-1B visa program, it is best to act quickly. Only a limited number of H-1B visas are granted in March of each year. The best way to ensure success is to start putting your application together ahead of time.

At Cashman & Lovely, client service is our highest priority. We welcome the opportunity to work with you on your H-1B visa from day one. To speak with Dan Cashman regarding your legal needs, contact us at 617-340-3467.
